A Happy Valentines Day

I hate it that I have neglected my little blog in such a terrible fashion. But catering and computer problems have kept me from my favorite indulgence.

If you have read my profile, you know how much I love a great eating experience. Well, last night was just such an experience and was so delightful that I want to share it with you! Darrel took me to one of our favorite restaurants for Valentines Day. He even made reservations! What a man...anyway, we had reservations at Club 609 for 8:30pm. We had an incredible appetizer of sea scallops wrapped in fresh basil leaves and prociutto ham with bernaise sauce accompanied by a terrific bloody mary. Next we had a shrimp bisque that can only be described in words not suitable for those under 18. Darrel wanted to bathe in it...enough said. Then for dinner Darrel had Steak Bordelaise and I had Chateaubriand with Chateau Potatoes and Flash Fried Asparagus. My dinner consisted of 5 medallions of beef tenderloin fillet with bernaise sauce that could be cut with a fork. The asparagus was incredible. Darrel's steak was a strip steak cooked to perfection on top of chive mashed potatoes topped with flash fried onion rings.

It wasn't quite as phenominal as the five-course, 3 hour meal we had for our anniversary at the Old Miner's Inn that one time. Their french cuisine is to die for. But it was a special evening filled with fun and laughter. That's one of the things I love most about us - we enjoy a good laugh. Humor has saved the day more than once for us over the last eleven years.

We stopped off at Doug & Misty's for warm chocolate cake with a syrupy icing and vanilla ice cream. Extraordinary. Have I blogged yet that Darrel's brother, Doug, and Misty his girlfriend are now engaged? Misty is already living in their apartment in Webb City. Doug will join her after the wedding in June. But we still call it Doug & Misty's. They're so cool. I'm so glad they found each other.

I booked and cooked my first official catering entirely by myself yesterday. I cooked a funeral dinner for 20. I even got a $10 tip! I rock...ha! Not really. But it did wonders for my self-esteem!

Well, I'll try to be better about blogging. I've missed visiting with you all!
